Tunstall-based Reels in Motion have become the first Stoke-on-Trent company to make the official Top 50 Production Companies list.

The prestigious annual list is awarded by Televisual Magazine and is the highest benchmark for corporate video production companies in the UK.

Earning a place in the highly-acclaimed list puts Reels in Motion in the top 1% of video producers in the UK, and in a short-list traditionally dominated by London companies, puts Stoke-on-Trent on the map for corporate video productions.

Co-founder Matt Hubbard said: “To be recognised as one of the UK’s Top 50 Corporate Production Companies is a huge achievement for Reels in Motion and recognition of the hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm all of the team put into our films and videos. We’ve won awards before but this is definitely the most significant as it puts us in the top 1% in our industry. It is also a massive statement for a Stoke-on-Trent company to be acknowledged by Televisual Magazine, and along with the recent opening of Stoke Studios, is further proof that the city is fast-becoming a big player in the world of video and film production.”

Reels in Motion produce award-winning corporate videos, films, and documentaries and are based in The Production House in Tunstall. The company was founded by Phil Bland, Joe Gordon, and Matt Hubbard in 2004.

Formed 14 years ago, Reels in Motion has invested more than £250,000 to transform a former workmen’s club at Ryan Hall, in Tunstall, into its new offices and state-of-the-art production suite.

Complete with recording booth, green room, video studio, editing suite and nine-seat mini cinema, the company hopes it will mean up-and-coming producers no longer need to travel to bigger cities.

Co-owners Matt Hubbard, Phil Bland, and Joe Gordon, all of Longton, want the new studio, on The Boulevard, to become a ‘creative hub’.

Matt, explained: “We never had any facilities when we started up so it’s good to have a proper purpose-built studio.

“There isn’t another production studio like this in Stoke-on-Trent. We wanted to make something that’s not just for us, but something that other companies could hire as well. It means they don’t have to travel to Manchester, Birmingham, or even London.”
